Uri graduated from the Faculty of Law of the Universidad de Costa Rica (1992) while working as a paralegal for a well known law firm. He then went on to study a Masters Degree in Banking, Finance and Corporate Law at Fordham University, in New York (1995), where he took the Bar and was admitted to the practice of law in New York State (1996).

Recruited by another well known Costa Rican law firm Uri was made a partner while working on foreign investment, public contracting, mergers & acquisitions, immigration and commercial law, representing several Fortune 500 companies.

In 2001 Uri became General Counsel for a Joint Venture majorly owned by the US construction company Bechtel and the Government of Singapore. During this time, Uri directed more than 200 law suits and claims, including litigating in various arbitration claims totaling more than US $120 mm.

In 2008 Uri founded INTERLEGEM along with key members of the JV’s legal department, to provide outside legal services to the Joint Venture while at the same time providing legal counseling and doing litigation for other clients.

In 2005 and 2010, Uri was recognized by Latin Lawyer Magazine as one of the Top Cats of the In-House Law in Latin America.
