Juan Antonio Mazariegos

Senior Partner and Director of Alegalis, has been recently recognized as a “Leading Individual” by the international ranking Chambers & Partners (2015; 2017) due to the positive response of his clients.

He initiated his practice as a litigator, having succeeded in civil, commercial, criminal and constitutional cases. The attention and devotion provided to his clients earned him their trust and soon lead to providing also corporate law services, to the extent that he has participated in mergers and acquisitions in Guatemala, Central America and South America. The involvement in these fields allowed him to diversify the firms’ capabilities and specialize in areas such as real estate development and energy generation, fields in which he has vast experience.

In the year 2004 after obtaining his MBA, he was asked by clients to join them as counsel and director of companies in different industries. This allowed him to travel to Asia and perceive the importance of this continent, but specifically the People’s Republic of China, one of the reasons why in 2012 Alegalis Hong Kong was founded. This office has allowed the firm to provide services for Central American clients in Asia and provide a link for Asian clients in Central and South America.

Juan Antonio holds an MBA from Universidad Católica de Chile, a masters in Criminal Law from Istmo Unversity and has been a professor in the Faculty of Law of Rafael Landivar University.
